WHO WE ARE

Evidence-based food certification beyond organic

The Bonafide Project is an independent food certification program established to address gaps in existing organic and clean food standards.

Current certification frameworks, including USDA Organic, permit ingredients and practices that conflict with emerging research on nutrition, metabolic health, and food quality. Organic standards allow certain preservatives, do not regulate industrial seed oils, permit undisclosed components in natural flavors, and lack requirements for grain-free animal feed or traditional food preparation methods.

Our certification protocol addresses these limitations through comprehensive standards across four domains:

Ingredient Purity

Complete prohibition of preservatives, industrial seed oils (canola, soybean, corn, cottonseed, safflower, sunflower, grapeseed, rice bran), synthetic additives, natural flavors, gums, emulsifiers, and any detectable glyphosate or pesticide residue through third-party testing.

Animal Welfare & Feed Standards

Mandatory grain-free feed protocols for all animal products. Requirements include 100% grass-fed and grass-finished standards for ruminants, pasture-based systems with species-appropriate diets for poultry and pork, wild-caught only for seafood, and prohibition of antibiotics and hormones across all categories.

Processing & Preparation

Verification of minimal processing techniques, low-temperature methods to preserve nutrient density, traditional preparation practices (soaking, sprouting, fermenting) where applicable, and documentation of full supply chain traceability.

Safety & Packaging

Third-party testing for heavy metals, mycotoxins, and contaminant residues. Packaging requirements exclude BPA, BPS, phthalates, and plastic contact with fatty or acidic foods. Materials limited to glass, stainless steel, or certified safe alternatives.

The Bonafide Project conducts annual facility inspections and requires ongoing laboratory verification to maintain certification status. Our standards are designed to align with functional nutrition principles and provide consumers with verified information about food sourcing, processing, and composition.
